Ganesh Chaturthi Festival celebrated is a Hindu festivals in India. Lord Ganesha is a elephant-headed deity of prosperity, wisdom and good fortune. The festival exact date varies each year as it is determined by the lunar calendar. This is year Ganesh festival starting on 18/ 19th September 2023 as Mahalaxmi Calendar. 

Lord Ganesh idols installed in in homes, public places and temples in various states mainly in Southern India i.e. Maharashtra, Karnataka, Goa, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. 

The festival typically spans 10 days, with the most important day being the day of immersion, known as Ganesh Visarjan. On this day, the idols are carried in grand processions through the streets, accompanied by music and dance, and then immersed in bodies of water, such as rivers, lakes, or the sea.

Preparations for the Ganesh Festival begin weeks in advance. Clay idols of Lord Ganesha, varying in size and intricacy, are crafted by skilled artisans. These idols are decorated with vibrant colors, ornaments, and flowers. Devotees clean and decorate their homes, create beautiful rangoli at the entrance, and set up elaborate pandals for the public display of the idols. The culmination of the Ganesh Festival is marked by the grand procession known as Visarjan. On the final day, devotees bid farewell to Lord Ganesha and carry the idols to nearby water bodies, such as rivers, lakes, or the sea, for immersion. The procession is accompanied by music, dance, and fervent chanting. The immersion signifies the symbolic departure of Lord Ganesha, carrying away the collective prayers and wishes of the devotees.
